Awards "Prémios Play"
In 2024 and 2025, Artway was consecutively awarded the Play Award for Best Classical Album of the Year in Portugal for the albums by António Pinho Vargas, "Lamentos," and Pedro Lima, "Talking About My Generation."
Artway Editions, founded in 2011 in Porto, is an independent classical and jazz music label whose catalogues bring together previously unpublished works by Portuguese composers and interpretations of great universal masters. Recognised nationally and internationally, Artway won two consecutive Play Awards for Best Classical Album (a prestigious Portuguese Award): in 2024 with “Lamentos” by António Pinho Vargas and in 2025 with “Talkin(g) (A)bout My Generation” by Pedro Lima. Artway’s three catalogues — Artway Records, Artway Next and Artway Jazz — each have their own curatorial direction. Every album is conceived as an integrated artistic project, with a distinct curatorial identity and a performance-oriented logic. Filipe Quaresma curates the Artway Next catalogue, and João Esteves da Silva is producer and head of the Artway Jazz catalogue.
At Artway Editions, the investment and dedication we have devoted to record production reflect our passion for Portuguese music and our commitment to the musicians with whom we work. With around 40 albums released to date, our catalogue continues to grow steadily, establishing itself as a space for identity, experimentation and sonic memory. Each release results from in-depth curatorial, production and artistic guidance work, reflecting our desire to build — with time and rigour — a musical legacy that mirrors the vitality and diversity of contemporary creation in Portugal, while facilitating its reach beyond national borders. In 2026, we begin a new phase of international projection through collaborations with renowned orchestras, conductors and musicians, strengthening our presence in high-profile artistic circuits and expanding the international circulation of projects that bring together contemporary creation and landmark repertoire.
The record releases are divided into the Artway Records, Artway Next and Artway Jazz catalogues, curated by Filipe Quaresma and João Esteves da Silva. In addition, Artway is a pioneer in the publication of scores by Portuguese composers, brought together in a dedicated catalogue.
