João Esteves

João Esteves da Silva was born in Lisbon in 1994. He joined the Artway team in 2025. He considers himself, above all, a music listener, with three interrelated areas of application: criticism, programming/curatorship and record production. As a critic, he has written for online publications such as Bandcamp, The Free Jazz Collective and jazz.pt. As a programmer, he was responsible for the Jovens Improvisadores Cycle at O'culto da Ajuda in 2018, and has organized the Encontros de Composição Espontânea at Casa Cheia since 2024. As a producer, he has assumed the artistic direction of the Artway Jazz catalogue since 2025, focused on the work of contemporary Portuguese musicians-composers. He is also a PhD student in the Theory of Literature Programme at the University of Lisbon, developing a dissertation on taste (particularly in the context of music criticism), framed within research in the philosophy of mind.
